Default Soliciting?

Can someone explain to me what exactly it is? If I go to an office complex's parking lot or apartment complex (not the office) and distribute flyers on people's cars is it soliciting? What happens if I am seen putting flyers/business cards on people's cars? I am puzzled by this as I've seen people put flyers on cars in a "no soliciting" zone. I don't see any harm in this as I've found flyers on my car myself. Please explain to me what it all means, from a legal stand point. Thanks!!

You dont see any harm? We dont want that trash on our windshields. We dont want that trash hanging on our door knob when we come home every day. We dont want flyers stuck in the crack of our door. It's all spam. Nothing different then the spam trash in our inbox every day.

It's poor advertising dollars spent by business unless they are advertising pizza or a hair salon which seems to be the only ones people use.

To most people, their car and their home is their domain. Their castle. And you are a stranger walking on it or touching it and that brings out the instinctive reaction in humans to defend and put up our guard. Get the hell off my property and get your filthy hands off my car.

How do you feel when those jehovah witnesses knock on your door when your family is just sitting down to eat? What about the idiots who call your phone selling vacum cleaners while your eating? And worse of all, how do you feel when you get an unsolicited phone call trying to sell you magazines or asking you for donations?

Here is what I/we used to do to people like you: I was a young person leasing apartments. Every Friday those spammers would stick cards on every car in the entire complex. Many would blow off and we had to pick them up. So my boss asked me to collect every card I could find. Me and him went to the pizza palor and threw them up in the air all over the place. Hundreds and hundreds of cards were scattered all over the place. We had asked them to stop several times but they just laughed at us. We got our revenge and they never spammed us ever again.

And all you see is the pultry $50 a day they pay you to intrude into our private place. Put that trash on my windshield and I will grab that sack and empty it in the parking lot for you to clean up.

I hate spam. I really hate telemarketers (I think telemarketing should be outlawed). I don't like junk mail. I don't like door hangers or flyers on my car. But if you need to use one of those methods to get your business going - do it.

Don't use flyers that will bleed color - you could get sued for damages.

Generally, the worst thing that will happen is that someone will get in your face and tell you to leave. Be polite and leave.

Just stay away from mailboxes - that is a federal crime.
