Cheapest fax to email (own fax number)
Just a quick inquiry to see if anyone can recommend an extremely cheap way that I can have my own fax number, preferably in an area code of my choosing, that will send faxes directly to my email, or at least to an account that I can view online. I hardly ever fax things, but I do occasionally need to receive them.

Have you considered just scanning documents into a .pdf file and emailing them?

I don't know how your computer is set up, but you can use your dial up modem to send and receive faxes. I do it all the time. Just plug the phone line into the dial up modem port (phone jack) in the back of your computer and you have a fax machine.
Here's a link to the software it has a free trial.
Essential Fax
Hope this helps.

I would be more than happy for people to do that, and to do that when possible, but it's not really polite or good business sense to insist that somebody do that. And once in a blue moon, especially with a few international clients, fax is the only way I can get a document to them quickly.

Onesuite has a fax to email incoming service for only $1 a month. You'll get your own number (usually in your local) that comes with unlimited incoming fax service that is forwarded to your email.

The Onesuite service is absolutely terrible and not even worth considering. Over half the time incoming fax machines can't connect, and it comes with a free spam service.
