Well I saw this coming for 30 years, since the second gas crisis in the late 1970s. I was a teenager selling soda to people in NYC who were waiting for gas in the odd/even gas lines.

For many years now, the US automakers have been on notice that quality, fuel efficiency, and cost were the three things they needed to improve. They made some progress on quality, but not so much on the others.

This day has been a long time coming and should surprise absolutely no one. The only surprise is how they lasted so long with the ridiculous costs they had to bear and the products they were selling.

I don't really thnik that weither Gm or chrysler will make it with government owning and appointing board memebrs.Governamnt has never run anything efficently or based on what the market wants.
