I need to increase website conversion for my online business. I am paying a lot for PPC and my website conversion just doesn't justify the expense. Does anyone know of some quick tips on how to help increase website conversion rates?

(What is a typical website conversion rate, anyway? Do any sites publish standard website conversion rates by industry?)

If you want to increase website conversion set up Google Analytics and use their tools like website analyzer to track where your traffic is coming from and what happens in your conversion funnel.

Typical Website Conversion Rates:
Catalog 6.1 %
Specialty stores 3.9 %
Fashion/apparel 2.2 %
Travel 2.1 %
Home and furnishing 2.0 %
Sport/outdoors 1.4 %
Electronics 1.1 %
All verticals 2.3 %

Additionally, you will need to take a look at lead generation and keyword selection. You want to see what people are searching for and use those keywords for website. Then set up some sort of internet marketing campaign.

Basically what you need is search engine optimization, you need to let the people who are searching for you product or service find you and then capture their information for future sales.

When you talk about conversion, are you referring to conversion to your lead funnel or conversion to actual sales?

If you are talking about conversion to actual sales, then you need to think about your plan. Most people do not buy anything on a first visit, so you need to engage them to keep them comming back.

One of the best ways to do this is to set up a lead capture box on your site by offering something of value. For example, if you are selling gardening supplies, it could be "receive our ten weekly tips for making your garden beautiful". Then, use a good autorepsonder to send out a tip each week (it must have real value) and encourage them to re-visit your site (where they may purchase something).

You need to analyze your traffic and the design/UI of your website.

Without actually seeing the website there is not much that can be said. Most online retail sites are complete rubbish, yet the people running them seem not to "get it". Sorta odd....
