I need some career advice...PLEASE...
I had a job delivering pizzas that I ABSOLUTELY HATED. I'm afraid of dogs so I used to call ahead to the house and before that I ran away if they had a dog. They used to chase me all the time.
Another problem was the language barrier. Its an italian restaurant...filled with Mexicans and other latinos. Its a BIG problem. I dont know spanish at all.
So I took about 5-6 weeks off due to my primary job. Covering my High Schools baseball team for our local paper. I'm 17, I love baseball, I cover the football, tennis, and basketball team too. I only get paid by my father though ($20) as the company that owns the paper stopped paying writers due to the economy.
So, baseball season is over. Tennis season ends soon. I need money. I swore when baseball season would NEVER go back to delivering pizzas. But I'm really low on money with no back up plans. I NEED money desperately. They dont give me money for food and once school ends they wont give me money for gas. Once I fill up my car I will be down to $2 in my wallet plus 5 english pounds from my trip to England.
So what should I do? I really dont want to go back to delivering pizza. I'm looking for another job but I REALLY dont want to go back to delivering pizzas.
PLEASSEEEEEEE HELP ME!! I'M GOING CRAZY!!!

Why don't you try to find a job where you MAKE the pizzas instead of deliver them? Pizza Hut?

This is going to sound harsh, but...
Get off the computer and quit whining! You want a different job? Go get one. You're 17 years old. Find a job working in retail, fast food, lawn care, etc. There are many options out there for you, if you'll take the initiative to make something happen.

i will say it twice
#1 so far you dont like work. the issue of not speaking a foreign language came up but i did not see any interest in learning, how far does that distain for work and distain of learning go?
employment is 85% attitude.
#2 your primary adversary to success is not the dogs or the spanish speaking people, and you must confront it soon bek it is getting stronger bigger and meaner by the minute, time for a showdown, go turn on the bathroom light.

Most every job a teenager can get sucks. Thats just a fact of life. They are on the bottom rungs of retail, construction, food prep, etc.
So, just suck it up, do your best, and try to get the most out of it. You may even find that pizza delivery job takes you interesting places. This world is full of people who started at the absolute bottom of something, and now are comfortable. My girlfriends father started as a retail clerk at a shoe store, and now is a regional manager.

Delivering pizzas is not a career, and no need to be overly dramatic about it. Early jobs suck, it's good incentive not to be okay with it...it's a great motivator to get a good education and work hard (was for me). Be flexible, pound the pavement, and know we are in a crappy economy...find your own niche. At least you have a roof and meals, many don't have that.

You need to get over your fear of dogs and know how to work with your customers. There must be attractive women who answer the door.

What are your skills that you can offer to others? You can offer those skills in a consultant role. Many of young people have started businesses this way. Might be something that you can take a look at.
