Default Opening an afterschool program, good/bad idea?

I am thinking of opening an afterschool program that would cater to school age kids. Mostly elementary and junior high kids. It would be opened from 2pm till 7pm. I was thinking of renting a 2 room studio with a bath to start. I am also working on getting all the state requirements. Also I am in the Washington DC/Maryland area. Any thoughts?
p.s.
I will be keeping my job till things pick up.

Work on getting endorsements from schools. Parents would be more likely to trust such an afterschool program.

Consider before-school availability as well. I'm not in your area, but I know the commute is long around there and if someone has to be in at 8 (or even earlier for military and healthcare workers that have to be in before 7 and other shift workers) if the school does not have an on-site before school program, they will need it.

Are you going to be offering transportation or are you on a school bus route?

Just a couple more things to think about.

I think it is a great idea! There aren't many options for older children and, IMO, many parents would prefer to have them in a program rather than home alone.

It would be especially helpful if homework help was part of the program. Not a tutor, but the structure of a homework area. Lots that you can do to engage the kids, but would also have a cool rec room where they can just veg if they choose.
