trying to write a book, but.. (insurance, getting sued)

Hello, I would like to get some input here, I consider myself to have a very unique upbringing and would like to write a book about it, it will however, involve friends and family. For friends and family, some things that I write might potentially hurt their feelings if the comments are negative and for some other outsiders, if they are against my thoughts of culture..etc., there might even be a chance of me getting sued, how do authors of books hand this? Insurance? Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Change everyone's name...including your name. And don't tell anyone you wrote the book.
