Which is the best furniture exhibition in China
Hi,
I was wondering if someone can please help me with the information of which is the best exhibition in China to attend and possibly buy unique modern and contemporary furniture and accessories.
I am opening a new furniture business and I would be targeting Interior Designers, Hospitality business and affluent neighborhoods . I will be purchasing furniture from Italy and Indoniesia and other countries but I definitely want to consider purchasing from China as well.
Has anybody experienced visiting furniture exhibtions in China and how did it come out. I would appreciate any useful feedbacks and leads...
Thank you to everyone in advance.

Ya know what? Why should we help you succeed in business when you are taking away American jobs. Have you heard? America is in an economic depression and falling fast. And you want to support some 3rd world country who hates our guts with every cell in their bodies? Do you even care? I bet not. If you cared at all you would support your own, not them.
I am a buyer or at least the specifier of some of your products. I would not recommend a Chinese made formaldehyde and sulfur infested piece of trash if it were the last product on earth. And neither would any of my co-workers. Even if the economy was not an issue, Chinese made products are killing people with the poisons which are not regulated there. But they are allowed to be shipped here. Yet our own country tells it's manufacturers how to make products safe.
I know you already know but I will speak loudly here if I am allowed to protect my fellow American and fellow man. Just google Chinese cabinets or chinese drywall and your screen will light up. At best your family will get asthma and at worse you will get cancer from that garbage.
I been in the design business for 3 decades and I can assure you with all
certainty that no Interior Designers, Cabinet professionals or furniture stores who wish to do business with the affluent would step inside any establishment who sells Chinese products. I will bet the farm on that. What you are proposing to sell you would be better off going to the annual Walmart merchant sales day.
Oh and I do attend the KBIS shows in the USA and the Chinese buy a large part to display their junk. On even the busiest days with show-goers the Chinese section is empty but for a few curious straddlers.
Buy American and I will show you the way. And your customers will support you too.

I have been an interior designer for 20 years, I would NEVER buy any of that Chinese nonsense for my clients, or for myself.
I always find either American-made, or commission my local artists to create pieces.....why is the world would I want to put cheap, potentially lethel Chinese made junk in a design setting that represents me?
Stop buying that crap, and find some American artists to make the pieces for you, or pretty soon, there will be no affluent customers left!

True. If the OP wants to target wealthy clients I am positive they will be only interested in quality items. When was the last time anyone seen a wealthy person shopping in Walmart?
Interesting thing to add: Back last November you were advertising for sale your table which you took a great deal of effort to brag of its high quality made in the USA status. Then a year and a half ago you posted this same exact thread. But that time you were telling us you wanted to sell only very high end high quality furniture.
I dont get it. Can you explain?

Exactly!!!!!!! And why in the world would I choose a cheap piece made out of resin and god only knows what else, when I could get a gorgeous antique, or an original (American)work for a client???????
The wealthy are NOT interested in having nasty, Chinese mass produced crapola in their homes!

The Vegas show is not open to the public. One has to show and prove they are in the business at some level to get a pass for that place. Basicly that new furniture showroom you are thinking of is available to Interior Designers only. I did the open house there about 2 years ago when it opened. Vegas wants to be the new furniture outlet center of the world and knock North Carolina out of tha position. First they will have to clean up their crime infested sheet hole of a city.

I appreciate everybody's comments.
Its strange that if chinese quality is so garbage then how come I have seen a lot of High end stores selling good quality chinese products here in Miami but anyways I should avoid the risk and would consider High Point and other options instead.
Thanks everyone !!

Please do not support the Chinese manufacturers until they enact safety codes and make themselves easily available for liability. If you decide to look the otherway and buy their toxic junk, I would make sure your business has REALLY good liability insurance.
"Thousands of consumers have complained of blisters, sores and rashes to the skin, and eye irritations following the purchase of leather furniture and leather products made in China."
gross!!!!!!
"An update has been released by legal firms taking a group action against several retailers which has been reported on the BBC's news website as well as on the television"

Judgement close on Chinese leather product injuries - Leather International Magazine
Not only buyer of chinese crap beware, but seller of chinese crap beware, or you may be sued next for selling defective toxic furniture that harms people.
What we need are more U.S. made furniture suppliers that offer non toxic, formaldehyde free, low to no VOC product lines.
