There are 2 existing threads on Subway and Quizno respectively.
Since this has nothing to do with the 2 franchising chains, a new thread may be better than getting OT and worst still hijacking the original topics.

I'm seeing demands and supplies out there that buck the traditional and standard way of doing business. I'll start with one of them here that has mushroomed ... "underground kitchens". Seating is by invitation, participating by sharing costs or donation, everyone brings along their own bottle of wine (no corkage), small group of 12 or less.

Some one has blogged on one of them here

If you have other examples, please contribute them here.

Default VIP Hada (naked) Sushi Party

Wikipedia has a page on Nyotaimori and Nantaimori, that is self-explanatory.
Nyotaimori - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In your neck of the woods, diners probably just stroll in the restaurants since it is legal in most countries. Otherwise paying guests are by invitation among a close circle including the professionals; in recent years, I'm seeing ads popping up in craiglist.

Default Wasabi, potential new agriculture cash crop

I've been meaning to broach on this .. Wasabi, potential new agriculture cash crop.

wholesale price, 1 kg = US$100 - US$150
market retail price, 1 kg = C$200 - C$250

Producers:
Japan is not self-sufficient and imports a large amount from China, Taiwan and New Zealand.
British Columbia, Canada
North Carolina, USA
*This plant loves cold, damp climates, and clean flowing water.

Quote:
The chemicals in wasabi that provide its unique flavor are the isothiocyanates, including:
  • 6-methylthiohexyl isothiocyanate,
  • 7-methylthioheptyl isothiocyanate and
  • 8-methylthiooctyl isothiocyanate.
Research has shown that isothiocyanates have beneficial effects such as inhibiting microbe growth.

Many professional couples still eat out a lot. They just do not have the time and energy to cook a balance meal every day complete with 5 servings of vegetables, fruits and protein. My cousin and his wife used to pick up their ready-to-cook gourmet meals from an up scale meal assembly center, but that store has closed and moved to a home-based location. Costco and some supermarkets have ready-to-cook meals packed with fresh ingredients, but the menu is limited and boring.
