Hi, good thinkers...I'm seeking advice on how best to get an on-line magazine visible?

The target audience are people who love small towns, live in small towns or want to move to small towns. Mayors and town planners would find the publication of interest, too.

I know about SEO and am using key words but wondered what else to do to get visible. Viral marketing advice?

I sent out one press release by using a Web service but as this is being boot-strapped with a tiny budget, I cannot afford a steady stream of press releases.

Am I seeking to do the impossible?? Any suggestions from any marketing gurus would be much appreciated.

facebook. Set up a page for your business (you may already have a personal FB page) invite friends.
People love to become a fan of things on there. You can pay to advertise, but I haven't yet and I am up to 60 fans for my unadvertised business page.

Write a top 10 list of towns that will generate links and attention then post to Digg etc... My town has made the top 10 lists for sweatiest people, ugliest people, most rats, and most safe. You could do a nice list (ie best small towns, smallest small towns, most isolated...) but it's controversial lists that generate more attention. You don't even have to be scientific or accurate when choosing towns to include. Many of these lists are just opinion & made up over a coffee.

These are both good ideas, and I do appreciate them very much.
