The water is really that blue. It's crystal clear, and flippin cold. You can drive the two hours to Bow Glacier/Peyto Lake and see where the river originated.
The mountains appear closer on some days than others. It's about 40 miles as the crow flies to the mountains. So, yes, they're that close.
Is that the saddledome to the left below the tower?
The saddledome is just south east of downtown. Here's another shot.
