Older article from this past winter, but interesting. Alberta Average Hourly Wages Are The Highest In Canada

Stats Canada: Average hourly wages of employees by selected characteristics and profession, unadjusted data, by province (monthly) (Alberta)

Thoughts?

Well, if you know how to work outside in -50 below in a high wind you deserve it.

We're also a very small population so the stats get pretty distorted based on small numbers compared to large population provinces like Ontario and Quebec and provinces like B.C. where they simply don't make anything.

Well, you don't have to work outside or in -50 (??? really) to earn a good income in Alberta. There are plenty of well paying corporate & trades jobs in Alberta.

No, not really. It doesn't get that cold here. Occasionally it'll drop down to -40, but generally you're dealing with more like -5.

You can get a more detailed breakdown of provincial salaries by profession here: WAGEinfo - Alberta Wage and Salary Survey - Home Page

Gonna have to show the above to my esteemed employer before asking him why he's paying me a sub entry-level salary while he and his wife come to work in $250 000 worth of German luxury SUV's. His answer should be very enlightening.

I keep forgetting the -50 below line is just south of Red Deer.
the frozen comment was just to prepare all those posts I see from the USA and Eastern Canada about working in "the Patch" and making the "big bucks."
