Hello,

My boyfriend and I will move to Calgary next October because I was hired by a big accounting firm located downtown and I'm looking for an apartment within walking distance from the office. I am looking a 2 bedrooms apartment, preferably furnished, and with a parking. Our price range is 1500-1700.

Do you have any recommandations? Buildings names?

I don't really know the city yet, only been 2 weeks ago for my job interview. I walked a bit downtown and know what is +15 which is very nice. My future office is located on 850 2 Street Southwest.

Thank you in advance.

Anne

I'm very familiar with that firm.....

People define "downtown" differently, but the central business district is located south of the bow river and North of the CP rail tracks (9th ave). East/west boundaries are more vague, but the elbow river on the east and 10th street on the west boundary makes sense to me.

This central business district is pretty quiet at night. Mostly office towers and not a lot of street level interest. All the office towers (almost all anyway) are connected through the +15 network, so shops tend to be concentrated on the second floor of buildings instead of on the streetfront. The central business district makes for a dull community.

Areas surrounding downtown are better. And they are almost all pretty good. I like in sunnyside (North of the bow), and I really like it here. Inglewood (east), bridgeland (North east), mission (south, and bank view (southwest) are good surrounding beighbourhoods.

Your budget will be fine.

East village is one part of "downtown " that promises to be more vibrant, but it isn't realky finished yet.

I would suggest looking along the beltline, south of 9ave and West of Center Street, stay in the SW addresses if possible.

There are some new developments happening in East Village right now, but I feel it still needs time to develop.

If you have specific questions about an area, feel free to message me
