My dad got a 20% salary cut as a mechanical engineer. It's definitely not a pleasant time in Calgary.

Sunshine is now, but the ground is going to stay frozen for awhile. Job wise Calgary and environs are starting to hurt. I had to go into the Federal job and employment building and it doesn't look good at all. The room was full of people usually seen working. We knew this was coming a year ago, but the serious layoffs are starting now.

Yes there's work but it will go to the nephews, inlaws, and outlaws first, then you.

Vote for the NDP and things will really go down hill. Alberta would look like Ontariowe in a matter of months after they scared off the corporations with higher taxes and royalty rates. The left wingers are already nixing pipelines and if Alberta was run by the NDP their eco-freak brethren would move to kill all oil production.

The funny thang is in my last two sojourns in Alberta I've never met an NDP'er, except for that Calgary city counsel member that is a complete nutbar. Who needs reality tv when we have this going on?

While working in Alberta I've never met anyone that would vote for them, but this lady is an Albertan first and as we used to say in Ply Sci "every party eventually gets it's kick at the cat" so good luck to her and God save us all.
