It's an entry-level, part time job. I lied about my previous work experience and finishing high school (i'm still taking high school courses). I don't have a criminal record.. I'm wondering, will they be able to find out about that through background check?

All it takes is a few simple phone calls to your "previous employers " and them saying we never heard of that guy......Bad idea on your part.

It really is a bad idea to lie on your resume (not to mention really dishonest); however, in regards to how likely it is for them to find out, I would say that's up to the recruiter. I'm currently a recruiter for an IT company and I personally don't usually verify a candidate's educational credentials. I've actually never done that. The background check we run is merely a criminal background check, and then we ask candidates for professional references. Now, since I don't recruit entry-level positions, most of the people I interview are currently working, so I can't exactly speak with their current supervisor so I don't get them in trouble for looking for a new job. If your previous experience has "already ended" according to your resume, they might ask you for your previous supervisor's number.
Again, though, I think it just depends on the recruiter. And I doubt they'll do such a thorough background check for an entry-level position unless you made the recruiter suspicious during your interview. If I interviewed someone who sounded suspicious about their resume, I may be inclined to dig a little deeper....

They usually do that if they're thinking of giving you a promotion. My advice: do a crappy job.
