I have a car accident, but not my fault. Someone hit my car from behind. After inspection, they said my car is total loss. My car is 1997 Toyota Corolla. The fault side insurance company only would like pay me 1000 as per the market value. I feel so unfair. If the lady did not hit me, my car still can work for long time. It is not my fault, but I lost my car and only 1000 back for nothing. Any advice what I can do? Thanks.

Buy a new car?

If you haven't accepted the money yet, you can always try to negotiate a higher payout. Provide proof of what purchasing an equivalent car would be, and go from there. If you've already taken the cash, there's nothing you can do really at this point.

Thank you so much. I have not accept the money yet. They also sent me the prices of the similar cars, 1997 Toyota Corola, from the website of kijiji. The prices really are low. I just feel so upset because I did not do any wrong, but I lost my car ....

Face facts, your car is 18 YEARS OLD. It is not worth much. The thousand dollars that your insurance company offered you is FAIR.

Most people in Canada would NOT drive a car that old, fearing for their safety.

Suck it up and move on.
