I have been living in ottawa for 3 years, working as a labor all through. I am wondering if there is more labor jobs with higher pay (more than $18/hr,) in calgary or edmonton, comparing to ottawa ?

Depends. Warehouse type, Calgary, as it's more of a distribution hub. General oilfield, etc. Edmonton.

Labourer jobs are busy right now in Calgary, as the "labour" pool largely returned to the East, Quebec, and the Maritimes. However, if you're looking for 18. an hour and up you better be fast, thorough on your math, and be prepared to spell and add correctly.

Agencies still predominate, meaning they book you out to Loblaws, convention work, Fastfreight, the WalMart warehouse, and since it's now summer, construction. and other warehouses for 22. to 38. an hour and pay you what is now below minimum wage. "Cash corner" pays 18. but you have to know how to "work" the corner. There's also lots of "jonesin", ripoffs, and muggings in Calgary in the workforce, and it's a full deposit of a months rent to get a place.

There's been a small amount of Ft. McMurray work for RED Seal trades and equipment operators. Most in town work that pays anything you pretty much have to have a connection, like b eing someones young nephew. Calgary labour employers are not very sophisticated and blunder along, being mainly of the "gitter dun" school.

You may find having worked back East that it might be a shock of a change.
