I have searched through a lot of posts regarding Calgary, AB VS other parts of the world. I will apologize in advance if this is a cross post, or a repeat. I am currently faced with a decision on whether or not to move from Victoria BC to Calgary AB. My main reason for the relocation is to own a home sooner and to improve my family's quality of life. My wife lived in Calgary for 13 yrs having moved there from Victoria, but moved back 2 1/2 yrs ago to get married and start a family here. Both sides of our family live here in Victoria and I am fairly established with my career having worked for the same employer for 12 yrs. There are opportunities in Calgary with my current employer that I see as being attractive not to mention the cost of getting into the housing market there. My question (struggle) is this, if the move I make is lateral in terms of senority and wage will I actually be further ahead in the long run picking my family and moving to Calgary? Thanks to all in advance!

how "long" of a run?
I'd have to say that in 20 years you'd be ahead, but seeing as the oil industry is on the decline, 40 years from now you might be behind.
