So, I moved into the boardwalk apartments last year with my friend. At that time we signed a lease which was supposed to end on march 31 2017. I have a copy of that lease. Then, after few months another friend of mine started living with us. So, we asked the authorities to include his name as well. They made another lease with his name on it as well but they moved our lease to 30 April instead of march. We did not read the lease and signed it because we thought its the same. Now, they are not accepting their mistake and asking us to pay the fine. Can anyone help me up with this situation? What should I do next because I do not want to pay for the mistake I didnot commit.

Sorry, it's your mistake for not reading the lease, not much you can do other than paying the extra month.

I'm not sure I understand the problem. You had a lease that ran until March 31, 2017. Now, it runs until April 30, 2017. Unless the rent rose outrageously for the month of April, or something similar, I'm unsure what you mean by "pay a fine."

A lease is just a contract, and it behooves anybody signing a contract to understand what it contains. In other words, one does not sign a contract without reading it, and asking questions, as necessary.

Regardless, there are not enough facts here to make a determination of any sort. What, specifically, are you seeking, OP? What is this "fine" you spoke of? I may have more questions, once you answer these.
