I'm a hockey fan trying to pick a favorite Alberta NHL team. Please let me know your thoughts and reasons why I should root for or against either the Flames or Oilers.

This is meant to be a fun thread with contributions from those who like hockey and / or either of these towns. For those not following the NHL, there's a chance they may play one another in the playoffs.

For equal coverage, I'm posting this in the forum for each city.

It's sort of like Democrats and Republicans. You're never going to convince the other side to see things your way.


Either you like the Oilers or Flames. There's no real middle ground.


That being said, I'll cheer for the other if one is out before I'd cheer for some third team.
