I'm looking at moving to SW Calgary. Are there specific areas that are great for dedicated cycling trails? I don't ride on the road, except for minor "back streets" to get to trails. Interested in MTB and gravel and paved trails. Any input appreciated.

Anywhere near the river valley is good. Marda Loop, Lakeview, Shaganappi, Spruce Cliff, Oakridge. Basically all around the res, and Oakridge/Lakeview give you reasonable access to the Weaselhead.

Can you ride Weaselhead Rd on the res, or is that trespassing?

Weaselhead is a park not a part of the Reservation. Riding on the Reservation would probably be frowned on, if not illegal. They're still public roads. The res I was referring to was the reservoir. There's extensive paths around the Glenmore Reservoir that branch down all the river valleys. Also, there's great trails in Fish Creek Park as well. That Oakridge, Cedarbrae, Woodbine area would be a real sweet spot for riding.

Nice, sounds awesome. Thanks for your input. While I've got your attention, are the trails OK to use for winter riding at all?

Sure. They're not fastidiously maintained though. The main bike paths are plowed.

What would you ride in the winter on the trails, a fat tire bike or studded tires on a MTB?

I'm not remotely crazy enough to ride a bike below freezing. There are lots of fat tires about though.

I'm likely not crazy enough either, I just get a little delusional at times.
