ammoving to calgary.am coming from a country which is usually hot. heard calgary is too cold. want to know what kind of clothing to carry to calgary. will october be cold in calgary
Average October high is 10 C while the average low is -3 C.
For someone living in a hot climate this may feel rather cold. For others, like myself, who have lived here for basically their whole lives, it is no big deal.
You will likely have to normally wear a light jacket outside at the beginning of October and advance to a light ski jacket by the end. You will definitely feel it become much cooler over the course of the month.
There may be an occasional snowfall by the end of October. Usually, however, we do not get much snow until November.
The coldest months are December to February with average highs of approximately 0 C and average lows of approximately -12 C. Some days are much colder and some much warmer. Temperatures can vary a lot all through the year.
If I can jump in with a follow-up question (I may be moving to Calgary in the next year or so from tropical New England), where do native Calgarians go for clothes shopping? I would need a major upgrade in cold-weather gear for a large family, and I need to estimate what I ought to budget for that sort of thing.
Thanks-
