I saw that video a few months ago.

I like the part where he asks the union to do political attacks on the opposition so that he can come across as the "nice guy" in the campaign.

Its politics, get yourself dirty in the process too Jerry.

And the unfortunate part of this is that the unions will be shooting themselves in foot as we drive out more and more business to other states. The members will have all their rights and negotiated wages while sitting home watching Oprah and waiting for that next big job to come in.

I used to belong to the Pipe Fitter's Union and my brother-in-law still does. But when the work dries up it doesn't matter what the union has promised you.

I don't think Meg Whitman is ugly at all, and I find the OP's comments offensive. She may be no raving beauty but she's very much an average-looking person. Since when do politicians need to qualify for the covers of GQ and Vogue???

While at best I am luke warm on Meg, she is infinitely a better choice than a retread Jerry Brown. Brown did not earn the nickname Moonbeam for nothing. On the political scale Brown is center left and Whitman a moderate. In the upcoming campaign Brown will turn toward the center in order to appeal to independents and moderate Democrats. Mr. Brown is firmly in the grasp of the public employees unions; he helped create and empower them during his time as governor. With huge unfunded pension obligations for public employees a major problem for California, there is growing anti union, anti government employee sentiment, and the Whitman campaign will hit hard at Browns connections to them. With a lifetime of public office on the record, Brown is very vulnerable to criticism, but Whitman also has her weak spots, and Brown is a tough, veteran campaigner. Look for lots of mud slinging in the next few months from both sides.

and I wonder how OP feels about NP and her looks? I too, as most know found his comments offensive and rediculous. I would hate to think this country is so shallow we elect our officials by their looks...

I hope those who make that comment have something that Canada wants. One can't move there just because they want to.

I think Meg looks great, is well-spoken, confident and poised. She could really change the down-at-the-heels image of California.

And then when Canadians elect someone they don't like where do they move to? Greece, Mexico, Australia, or ???? Until the next candidate they don't like. Glad my family's country of residence doesn't hinge on the next elected official.
