I bet the electric companies are happy for the xtra revenue. A smart meter costs $150-$200 & we have to pay for it. I believe the cost is added onto our bill a little at a time. Obama says the new meters are a good thing. I disagree.

Last billing cycle with my old dial meter was 32 days = 47 kwh. So far 14 days = 52 kwh with new smart meter & i have conserved these past 2 weeks big time. I DONT trust the new digital meters. I have a elderly neighbor who has had her new meter for 1 week & shes up to 335 kwh already. IDK why so high but maybe she dont conserve energy. Im not looking forward to the long & hot ca summer.

People shouldn't be worried about their smart meters. They should be worried about the pricing changes that have already been approved and those in the works. Peak day pricing and dynamic pricing which are both made possible by smart meters are going to really **** people off. They are already trying to spin it as a way to be "green" and a way of saving people money by getting more from our power grid. Basically raising rates while trying to convince you they are not raising rates.

This along with the 7 water rate increases since 07 have made our bills hard to manage and we make good money. If someone is living inland I can't imagine how high their bills are.

~ 35 to 40 bucks a month during the peak fruit tree watering season. Off-season ~20 bucks.

You shouldn't be blaming the utilities for the upcoming rate restructuring. Blame the people you voted for. The legislature is the one forcing the utilities to make the changes that everyone, including the utilities, hate.

Same here...

I have a "House" meter at a duplex that has only one circuit breaker.

The circuit powers a Lawn Sprinkler Timer and a 12 watt outdoor lamp controlled by a photocell.

Going back at least 10 years the typical monthly usage has been zero or one Kilowatt.

Since the Smart Meter install, my usage has increased to 5 or 6 Kilowatts per month.

PGE says the Smart Meter is more accurate and this is why I'm seeing an increase in usage.
