Attached is an article pointing out that Jerry Brown seems to be campaigning in slow motion with hardly any staff members [only 6 compared to 66 staffers working for Meg Whitman]. Admittedly Brown has a fraction of the resources Whitman has [she has spent already $91 million of her own money]. But as the article points out, the Brown campaign may be "too little, too late." Brown responds by pointing out that he has a 6 point lead over Whitman in polls and has hardly spent a cent.

Personally, I would like to at least know what Jerry Brown's plan is for California and think he is being lazy by not informing the voters of his vision for the state. Oh well!
Funny thing is...I listen to KGO radio every morning and even before he ever mentioned running for Governor, he'd be accessible every week to talk to the morning hosts. He doesn't shy away from discussing the topic of the day. I'm pretty sure that Whitman has only had ONE radio appearance...I've never heard the woman speak (besides her funny press conference where her handlers told everyone to leave and not ask her any questions).

I think he's proving his points by NOT avoiding the media (in this case radio which is FREE) and NOT spending more than anyone else in history telling everyone how fiscally responsible he is.

I guess I just see things differently. Anyone can have some "vision" for California. You have a vision, I have a vision...so what. It doesn't really mean squat. It's all just BS. Jobs... sure..Education...sure, Lower taxes...blah blah...it's all just words and Whitman has been saying the same as ALL politicians say.

But it's highly doubtful to me that she actually knows how MOD CUT actually works in government. Unfortunately now that I'm a little older and wiser, I have figured out that it IS about politics (same as getting a job in a bad economy, getting a promotion, getting a lot of things in life) and just 'cause you have good intentions it's not realistic to believe that some 'vision' is gonna play out. That's something Whitman cannot buy.

I'm pretty sure he's been very open to talking/debating Whitman when the time draws nearer (I think he's asked for 10 debates).

Not hearing from him yet is a good thing--like not seeing Christmas junk in the stores in September.

Interesting reply, clongirl

And you are correct about debates. Brown has asked Whitman to have many debates but she has only agreed to one debate in October [a month before the election]. Every time I see how much grief Arnold goes through each day I wonder if Whitman could deal with so many problems [a cut throat Democratic legislature\ powerful and demanding unions\ angry Republicans who hate any governor who is in any way reasonable\ university students willing to riot over anything\ wild fires and earthquakes\ extreme media scrutiny\ budget crises non-stop\ radical environmentalists\ etc]. Could Whitman handle such pressure?

Except for hubris and a misplaced sense of power, I have to wonder why anyone in their right mind would want that position.

Well..I certainly wouldn't!

And in this horrible state of affairs right now, I wouldn't even TRY to pump up how great it would be if you voted for me! But I'm more of a realist...and too honest to begin with...terrible qualities for a job in politics.

And then spend a fortune of your own money. By the end of the election Whitman is expected to spend $150 million! Why?

lets remember too that jerry has a day job for the state already. the last thing he needs is to be considered a lame duck in his quest for the gubernatorial seat.

It'll be interesting to see the amount of blow back Meg receives from her TV exposure. I'm sure she's getting more air time than Viagra commercials.
More than Viagra, but is it more than all male enhansement (spelling) drugs put together?

+1

Agree on all counts 100%

Meg Whitman has been perfectly described by the Huffington Post in the title of an article about her:

Mrs Harsh meets Harsh Reality.

LOL

If what's she's done so far is 'campaigning', then I'll pass. If all she can do is spend millions to attack her opponents while clinging fiercely to ideals I don't like(like NO AMNESTY under any circumstance), then to hell with her trying to enter politics after 28 years of caring so little that she didnt excercise her basic right as a citizen-to freaking vote?

She is calculated, brutish and a bully.

Basically she seems like Arnold 2(except she apparently has bigger balls than Arnold) so sorry but this is one sequel Im definitely don't want to see.

He, ha, He...

Other than the voting issue, your description makes her sounds like the perfect balance to the democrats running everything else.

I'm not sure your characterization of Whitman is entirely accurate especially when comparing her to Schwarzenegger. Keep in mind that Arnold has championed some of the strictest environment laws\ global warming legislation. He approved stem-cell research when the federal government did nothing. Arnold fought for universal health care even though the state could not afford it as well as comprehensive before and after school programs that included free breakfast and afternoon snacks\ tutoring\ sports. Schwarzenegger agreed with the state court and urged the electorate to approve gay marriage. I honestly believe that Arnold has been a good governor but happened to be in office during extremely dire times.
