The snow that melts in a few days normallh here was still here a month later, which is way abnormal. It also blew open my doors. I have a video of the first day of spring too, with it snowing. I can live forever without another storm like that.

Compared to the last few days of blastfurace weather I'll take SNOW. You can add clothes...

[quote=nmnita;15043742]Artichokes, I certainly know what you are talking about: we do get them here, rarely for about a buck or 1.50 each, but not often: Tir-tip, this week is $4.59 a lb, but we get it periodically for about $3.99 a lb. I know, many do not know what it is or how to fix it, but as for produce, there are other things we get here as cheap or cheaper than in Ca, one thing: Okra. Ok, I hate it and you might also, but I pickle it for hubby. He loves it.. Corn is cheaper here as well. So, one thing offsets another.

This doesn't mean I don't miss some things, I do, but I think for every negative there can be a positive.

YES,totally agree with every negative the is indeed a postive!!
Your prices for tri tip are great! Okra, well really have not been exposed to it to much so i dont know what to do with it but pickling it does sound yummy

Our normal snow is the same, lasts a couple of days then it's gone, which is perfect to me! This winter however, we got so many huge snow storms right on top of each other that it really stuck around, too long, even the kids were tired of it lol...but then that was a freakish winter and an experience! Still love the differences...and no matter what anyone is trying to say, 4 seasons in Ca, even driving up to the mountains (we used to drive up to Julian to get our fall fix), just isn't the same..you wouldn't know unless you experience it...it's amazing....but that's ok, I don't have to sell anyone lol

That summer when we went to visit family we rented a convertible and drove up hwy 1 from San Luis Obispo and literally soaked in and absorbed the smells, sounds and vistas along the way. We spent a few days in Monterey and we were enthraled with California again. I couldnt believe how we took this great state for granted while living there. I drove by Monterey Bay a hundred times while going to school at Cal Poly and never thought anything of it, clearly I had a new perspective and do to this day. This doesnt detract from Texas in any way, but I believe in general, people tend to gravitate back to where they are from.

I can relate completly,i would not be suprised if i ended up back in Monterey at some point in my life but for now it has been a great experience and i would not trade it for the world.I also some how some way have made it back around 4 times a year so that really still makes me feel part of my old community.

Deep fry it as well; btw, if you pickle it, do not cut the end or ends off at all: cutting the ends is what makes it slimmy...
YUK!!!!!

For my current online gallery I use Smugmug. But I have used many others in the past. I also post some photos on Flickr. But that is more for the photography groups.

Then I just use the Insert Image option and copy in the URL.

I actually saw a couple of seagulls while living in Colorado. And when I first saw them, I couldn't believe it. I thought I was hallucinating or my eyes were playing tricks on me or something. Kind of like a guy who has been in the desert too long. It was very strange indeed, like seeing a person in a Hawaiian shirt and flip flops in Colorado - a very out of place thing. I also once saw a car with a surfboard attached to the roof of it. LOL... Couldn't figure out where they were going. Maybe some cowboy surfers or something.
