Is the far southeast area of Bakersfield around Golden Valley High School (off Hosking) considered safe? I know that the Northwest is considered the best area to live in, but this specific area seems like a newer area of town. At least it appeared to me that way when I drove out there this morning to check out the Golden Valley apartments at 600 Hosking.

I have been very hesitant to recommend living anywhere in east Bakersfield, with the exception of the Rio Bravo area because it is generally 5-10 minutes outside of Bakersfield towards Lake Isabella.

Thanks Tim. Do you personally know which area I'm talking about? And do you know if those schools are any good? I'm figuring that if the schools are decent, then the area may be relatively safe.
