I'm considering moving from LA to either SF or silicon valley. Are there any hiking trails similar to Runyon Canyon in LA? From the few visits I had up north, the only trails I saw were relatively flat, except those that were pretty remote, like Muir Woods.

Which aspects of Runyon Canyon are you seeking? 1) A hillside trail that leads to panoramic views? 2) A hiking trail that you can walk to from your house in the city? You can get both of these in many parts of San Francisco, e.g., if you lived near the Presidio or Glen Park.

The spine of the peninsula range is full of steep trails, all the way to Watsonville.
