Well I don't live by the coast but if I did I could understand why they would upset with this Mark Twain summer they have been having. I live in the Central Valley and HEAT is needed for all the wonderful crops the entire world enjoys that come from here. The growing season is about two to three weeks behind normal right now because of the cooler weather. The extra heat will speed up the maturing process some what. The problem is when rains come early in September when the growing season is extended. It could be a disaster for a lot of crops. If the weather stays dry until October this could be one of the best vintage years out of the last 100 for a lot of varietal wines throughout the state. We need the la Nina weather pattern that has been bringing the cool waters from the gulf of Alaska to subside so the fog will go away and reduce the threat of disease.

Plus it feels better to swim when its 95+ rather than 75.

It should be 30 degrees F cooler Sunday (77F) than it is expected to be today (107F) in the hottest areas (west San Fernando Valley).

It is going to be as high as 101 degrees in Glendale/La Crescenta followed by 98 tomorrow. I've noticed that the heat in CA comes and goes in waves. It is not usually a constant kind of heat like NV or AZ. We may end up having a long hot summer. Or maybe not. I won't be complaining. There are other more important things in life than bickering about the weather.

Holy hellhole, it's currently 112 in SW Fontana and there are still two hours to go before the high temp apogee is reached.

Hah. You can say that again. It's around 105.6 in Northridge right now. Pretty weird, because whenever I step outside, I don't feel that bad.

In fact, I feel like running right now

Ironically, I've only been to the beach once this summer. Been out of town a lot, or working, or studying. Beaches are too crowded anyways, and my feet have a habit of burning whenever I walk on the sand.

I was freezing getting out of the Hawthorne pool an hour ago. Low 70s and breezy, chill factor in the low 60s.

It's always hot here in the desert, where EVERY DAY is a heatwave!!!

Ok, so we just got back from vacationing in Carmel, Monterey, Santa Cruz, and Walnut Creek, and San Francisco and we got lucky and had REALLY nice weather! I've never, ever been to these areas where it hasn't been freezing cold for a desert rat like me. It made the trip to see the in-laws (Walnut Creek) so much more bearable!

Boy ... have I got a story to tell you guys! I'll post it in its own separate thread.
