Default Angels Camp, CA

If there's anyone out there with some knowledge of Angels Camp I would love to hear from you. I'm considering moving to Angels Camp in the near future. I've tried to research the city, but unfortunately, there's not a lot of info out there. I was able to get a lot of statistical information, but now I'd like to hear from some locals. Any information is good information, thanks!

Thanks, I actually did check out this site. I was able to get a lot of good information. Really what I'm looking for is locals. People that can tell me about things that aren't in the websites. Stuff like, how are the police officers and the Department? what are the people like? What's the drug & crime situation like there? You know, stuff like that. I do thank you for responding. Like I said, all information is welcome.

I spent some summers there when I was younger working at a summer camp nearby. It was a small town, most people were friendly. Have you contacted their chamber of commerce? They should have a relocation packet they can send you. There are some great places nearby. The old mine & mining town in Columbia, Calavaras Big Trees State Park, and other outdoor recreation activities.

I have heard alot about meth issues there. But is everywhere these days.

Hi golfer,
I live in Angels camp for 7 years, and now in Sonora (Across the river) For 6 years. I love them both all though I think Sonora has a bit more in the way of things to do. Go to the website: Mymotherlode.com. It has daily news of both Calavaeras and Tuolumne county, and forums where you can read what is going on and member's opinions.
Hope this helps.
sgirl

Angels Camp is a Big City as far as I'm concerned Greenhorn Creek is my fav golf course to play around here. The crime is pretty non-existent, you can live in an 1850's era home or a trophy home on the 1st tee or just about anything in between. Most of the meth folks seem to have disappeared in the county, but the ones that are left live up toward West Point I think.

I moved to Angels Camp in 1997 right out of nursing school. I worked in Sonora which is 16 miles away. Angels Camp is a very pretty little town. As for police force it is an incorporated City the only one in Calaveras County and does have a police department. Except for an older Sgt who grew up there most of the officers are younger. There is not much crime so there is no problem in that direction then the Calaveras County Sheriff make their presence known. They also have the golf course with the $300 to 500 thousand dollar homes. The home we lived in was on an old mining location and it was a remodeled mining cabin (very well remodeled I must say) we lived one mile off of main street up a hill and I can't even remember the name of the street but you would turn left coming north on Hiway 49. The people are very friendly and very civic minded and after awhile you would know everyone especially if you joined some of the organizations such as a church or the Native Sons or some of the other civic clubs. San Andreas is about 12 miles North of Angels Camp and has a state of the art Hospital with several sugeons and quite a few family practicioners and they also own a clinic right down town in Angels Camp. They also have the fair grounds where they have the Frog Jump made famous by Mark Twain. His name is on everything in the county even though he only spent about 2 years there. I loved Angels Camp but due to a divorce and other things had to leave. I lived in Murphys for awhile which is 9 miles East of Angels Camp and then due to high costs decided to move to Alturas Ca. and Live in the infamous California Pines touted by Erick Estrada on Late night TV.
