Again, you seem to be forgetting the original question which we are addressing:

This is what the op is intereted in. No one is saying All of SD is like this including places like El Cajon, La Mesa, Poway, Chula Vista, etc... In the same way in Monterey County places like Salinas, Gonzales, Marina and Soledad are much different from Carmel, Monterey and Pebble Beach. These areas all have differing school districts, demographics, proximity to the ocean, types of neighborhoods, crime rates, etc... Somehow you seem to think we are describing all of SD County which obviously you are very fond of. But that's simply not the case or primary focus of the thread.

Derek

Thanks Derek/MtnSurfer. I am inclined to explore Carmel. Is the weather similar throughout the neighborhoods (e.g. Carmel by the sea vs Spindrift Road vs Carmel Valley) and what are the most walkable neighborhoods?

I have 2 little kids, who will be going to school soon. Good education is important to us. We would love to have: Ocean/bay, healthy clean air, beautiful sunny weather, and hiking/biking/walking trail. I would also prefer a neigborhood, where I don't have to use car all the time. I welcome opinions from people living in these neigborhoods...Thanks!!!
Capitola/Carmel/Los Gatos, La Canada Flintridge/Bradbury/San Marino,
San Anselmo/Mill Valley/Sausalito

But you really need a car for most of those.

Seacliff, San Francisco since the housing bubble burst you can pick up a bargain under $30 million, and you can walk to the bus
