Default Central Coast Photos

Share your photos of the Central Coast. This section of coast from northern Santa Barbara County to Santa Cruz County is one of my favorite parts of the state with Big Sur as the jewel.

I'll start out since photography is a bit of a hobby of mine, especially along the Central Coast.

Big Sur at night after the storm:

Garrapata Sunrise:

Pfeiffer Beach:

McWay Falls:

Point Lobos:

Monterey:

Montana De Oro:

Thanks guys, I sort of live by the f8 and Be There rule. So although I have a fancy camera now (Canon 5D2), it's really more about getting out there and seeing the beauty of the Central Coast first hand. I started with much more basic cameras but had just as much fun.

Great photos of a gorgeous part of California, Derek Especially like the photos of Point Lobos. Once I was standing out on one of the rocks with my brothers when a wave crashed over us. We scrambled around enough to grab hold of the rocks but could have easily been swept into the ocean. Great memories.

Yeah, the waves along the Central Coast can be pretty trecherous and surprisingly powerful. Glad to hear you guys made it out ok. It can be a scry lesson, that's for sure. I've had more than my share of close calls photographing the coast myself. This included getting totally covered by a huge wave in when I thought I was far enough away. Fortunately it didn't ruin my new camera or me!

Here are a few from this past Winter where huge waves were splashing 60+ feet in the air!

And here is the spot a little ways down which almost took me and all my gear out:

Lover's Point, in New Monterey/ Pacific Grove is a very dangerous area . Some poor soul's have gone too far out on the rocks there.
