not moran.

You want to call it Cali, my question is why? Why be disrespectful to a fine historical romantic Spanish name?

So then you're saying if I refer to Los Angeles as L.A. that is also disrespecting L.A. Oh well I'll just pronounce California the same way your governor does Cali fornia

Some people get so uptight about California being called Cali. I could care less.

To the OP: Make sure your wife contacts the BON in CA to make sure she will have no trouble obtaining a California nursing license. CA has the highest standards for clinical hours needed to get a nursing license so just make sure now before you move since no CA license means no work. Also, she should try to get a job before you move. There is NO nursing shortage here. Rn's are still being hired but it can take a while to find a job.

Are you aware that "Cali" is the name of a major city in South America? For an educated person, that's what comes to mind first upon hearing "Cali." If you have to make up a nickname for a place, it doesn't make sense to use something that is already the name of some other geographic location. You wouldn't call New York "York," because York is in England. You wouldn't shorten Chicago to "Chico," because that's a city in California. You wouldn't call Orlando "Orland," because that, too, is a city in California. If a place name has too many syllables for you to deal with, pick a name that's not already in use somewhere else.

I would say "Flori", just to be consistent with the -i.

I don't care if you do call it Cali, but there seems to be several people on here who are rather sensitive about it and they'll let you know.

Op, I would suggest SoCal.

just add an "f" on the end of it and everyone will assume you're an old timer.
