I read the link sounds like he did the right thing, whats the problem? Buisness still needs to be hanbled even without a passed budget, issuing ID card that don't ID anyone is just a good veto, the budget is a problem that happens every year it's nothing new, get to the polls and vote out the fools.

The rest of the country has no problem paying 1-3%/year in property taxes.

He did do the right thing. At issue is the fact that the Legislature dithers and wastes time and money (about $25,000 per version for staff time, printing and hearings X 5 versions) with crap like this while the state circles the drain!

In CA money, that's a much bigger number. And since we're talking about CA, your quip about other states means nothing, not that its relevant to begin with.

At 1/4 - 1/2 the price for the same home.

Not if you compare apples to apples. Of course, if you compare a house in coastal Orange County and a similar house in the middle of Oklahoma farmland, you may well find that the one in Oklahoma costs 1/4 the price. On the other hand, a house in Bakersfield will be cheaper than a house in a decent part of New Jersey or Massachusetts close to jobs.

Very relevant. Other states can balance budgets and CA can't, because other states don't have throngs of old-timers paying zero in state income taxes and $300..500/year in property taxes, and then complaining about big government and excessive taxation.

Furthermore, other states normally don't end up with budgets two months overdue, because other states don't require a two thirds majority in both houses to pass a budget, and that is also a consequence of prop 13. Fortunately, there's a chance that we'll do away with that silliness in November.

This has what to do with a prop passed over 30 years ago? Oh, that's right, nothing.

Oh, and Prop 25 is the very thing saving CA from itself. Only a fool thinks otherwise.

The budget aside ... I applaud the Governator for vetoing this bill. We have enough problems without having to guess at one's gender. You're either one or the other, people ... pick one!

I agree. I was going to say that the world doesn't stop becasue of budget issues. People still have to work and deal with all the daily crap that goes on. Not just in CA but evey state in the US has to deal with it lame proposals.
