HP is still a viable company and who knows what would have happened if those 30,000 jobs would have remained. Remember that she did that in the tech bust and many other companies did the same while many more vanished over night. I wish she was running for Govonor and could cut 30,000 more California jobs from the states payrolls. From what I see we need someone with a hatchet right about now, not only to cut down on the payroll but also to cut other areas within the budget.
they do not continue to lose elections: in Ca, yes, but let's see what happens in November throughout the country. What has already happened since Obama was elected? Care to give us your feeling on MA, NJ, and Va for starters?

I really don't follow the political scene outside California so have no idea what is going on in the states you list. All I do know is that a bunch of Tea Party freaks are running in states like Nevada, Delaware and New York dooming the Republican party more than it already is [Karl Rove is disgusted]. Can you believe the Delaware Republican actually once practiced witchcraft and doesn't believe in evolution? The Nevada Republican claims that people should be able to "barter" with their doctor and suggested that you could offer a chicken as payment for a medical checkup. These are the faces of the Republican party and just another reason they are forever ridiculed as idiots and total loons.

Carl Rove is not disgusted, he does not happen to think Christine was a good choice. As for not knowing what is happening or has happened, you do know who won in MA, NJ and VA back in November. I know you better than that. You seem to know a lot about NV and Deleware for someone who pays no attention and if you are basing the entire party on Ca you really are living in a small hole. BTW, Angle didn't mean literally a chicken for payment and you know that. She was being facetious.

I think what you are seeing is part of the normal ebb and flow of politics.
Both parties have their more extreme wings, and their more centrist folks. It isn't a clean break (it especially gets messy by specific issue), but representatives tend to fall in either the extreme or compromising side of their party.
At this time, both parties are tending towards their extremes, and eventually the party losing power will put up candidates who will try to appeal to the center.
Right this moment, folks resent the representatives in the center, in both parties. Like Republicans are nominating many Tea Party supported folks, the Democrats have been weeding out their "Blue Dogs".

And this is the best reason to vote the extremists on both side of the aisle out of office and replace them with centrists. Unfortunately, the people won't. But they'll sure complain about the lames they just elected or returned to office while following the party lines.
BLAH! And to think I spent the better part of a career in that business. I should be ashamed! Pardon me while I go take a very hot shower to cleanse myself.

I think you give me credit for more than I know; that's a nice change! Actually I read a lot but have stayed clear of the C-D politics forum after I got suspended once so I really don't know much about the states you are citing. The situation in Delaware was part of a comedy skit on Saturday Night Live and the Republican candidate was protrayed as a witch who actually flew off the stage. Every comedian has made fun of the Delaware Republican so she is well known and the laughingstock of the nation. That seems to be the problem with Republicans. Either they shock and repulse people by their cold-blooded anti-Americanism or they are such nuts that they become jokes on nightly TV. Do you watch programs like Stephen Colbert, Jon Stewart, Chelsea Handler, Bill Maher, Jay Leno, Dave Letterman, Craig Ferguson, etc? They regularly make political jokes and almost always it is a Republican that they are mocking. If I were a Republican I think I would start to wonder what is wrong with me.

Nita this very thing is itself a problem. Why in this situation when so many can't pay for health-care would anyone "appear" to not be serious about how to pay for it? Sure it may have been facetious, but it shows a real lack of urgency and commitment to be facetious in that situation.
What I've also noticed in this thread is something that, if it weren't such a serious problem, I'd laugh at. I've read several posts expressing the posters' justification for jobs being lost. That's all good except I recall some of those same posters criticizing democrats for not being able to help create more jobs in this bad economy. What I'm gathering is that it's ok if some republican cut jobs from some company some years back. However if the dems have not been able to clean up that mess, the answer is we elect those who've only proven that cutting jobs is the only way. Someone even said something about it being nice to cut 30,000 state jobs. That might be great if it wouldn't add 30,000 more people to the states already astronomically high unemployment rate. When did it become good to support someone who cut jobs and hope they could cut more?
I think there's some circular logic that's being missed here.

This isn't always the case. When the republicans lost in '08 they became even more extreme. Just look at McCain, he began catering to that extreme side of his party because he knew that the moderate stance he had always maintained would not have worked for him now.

Right. The Republican party has no idea what it is anymore and moderates are being kicked out all over the nation. Actually with the exception of Fiorina, Republicans in California tend to be more moderate and some are more liberal than even Democrats in other states.

She wasn't even the person who said barter chickens for health care.
It was Sue Lowden who suggested "chickens for check-ups", and she lost in the primary.
But it is funny how Angle is so well-known for the offbeat things she's really said that the public naturally ascribes the chicken bartering comment to her.
Oh, and Lowden wasn't being facetious. She seriously advocated going to a system of bartering for medical services, rather than having health insurance reform. Maybe not serious about using chickens in modern times, but she used that in her example.
"You know, before we all started having health care, in the olden days, our grandparents, they would bring a chicken to the doctor. They would say, 'I'll paint your house.' I mean, that's the old days of what people would do to get health care with your doctors. Doctors are very sympathetic people. I'm not backing down from that system."
She wasn't kidding.
