If anything Pelosi typifies the entitled mentality of political families.

Pelosi's good at the "nuts and bolts" of politics - she had direct lessons from her family - like answering constituents' correspondance, holding town hall meetings, etc. - if Al D'Amato was nicknamed "Senator Pothole" Pelosi could be called "Speaker Pothole".

She's faced pretty weak opponents over the years ; most of her GOP opponents have been gay lawyers recruited by Log Cabin who want to embellish their resumes with having been a major party candidate for public office (and some were Dems, Libertarians, or independents who Log Cabin persuaded to switch parties in order to run). Her GOP opponent in 2008 was a "Minuteman" type hardcore conservative woman who did horribly ; Cindy Sheehan running as an independent got more votes than the Republican woman but Pelosi still got over 70%. Her Republican opponent this year John Dennis is probably the strongest Republican she's ever faced (he's a libertarian Republican who's criticized Pelosi on defense issues and is pro-drug legalization) and he could very well get 30-35% of the votes, but she'll still win - my guess is that she'll get 60% this year (guessing that the Green could get 10% of the votes)

Pelosi, OTOH, has accomplished the near-impossible in making San Francisco more hated nationwide than Los Angeles - traditionally the most hated city in California - for the first time ever. She's certainly not good for SF's image and neither is demagoguic pretty-boy wanna-be celebrity Newsom. Although Newsom's not only symptomatic of a SF problem but a California problem in general - style over substance. Villaraigosa has the very same negative aspects and so does Arnold.

Isn't that seriously racist?

Machiavelli centuries ago said feigning faith was a good way to get power and keep it. The last few Administrations in the US have proven him right.

It's why blacks were permitted to join the church but barred from the priesthood to which everyone in the church belongs at one level or another.

But not to worry. Some years ago one of their latter day prophets had a new revelation and blacks can now be admitted to the priesthood(s).

and they can play football for BYU..sorry, I couldn't resist. It comes from back when blacks weren't really accepted by the church, but their athletic abilities were. It just used to **** me off, that's all.

It would be if it were true. Good Jews, bad Jews, black Jews, white Jews? Somebody's having a heyday interpreting the Book of Mormon.

Cain was a Jew. Who knew? Wasn't he the "basis" of the rejection of black races since he was turned dark after slaying Abel and dark skin was considered a sign of being one of his descendants and therefore, less "worthy?"

Oops! Off to the religion board with me!

Cain wasn't a Jew. There were no Jews before Judah.

Well said.

Arnold retains some popularity nationally simply because he is funny and some of his movies were entertaining. On the other hand Pelosi has no endearing qualities whatsoever.

Except in California where it counts! Face it Texans, you will always be under the thumb of California so long as you voted Republican. Californian rules in a democracy!
