Maybe California needs to split itself 50 more times so we get majority representation in the Senate

Realistically speaking though, all that would happen is that instead of one fiscally screwed up mess, you'll have as many as you decide to split up. There isn't ONE area of the state that isn't in a gigantic mess right now.

As long as we don't have to be governed by all the fruitloops in the bay area, fine with me.

I always hear complaints about this but what exactly have Bay Area politicians done that really affects your life to the point it makes you seethe with anger and suggest ridiculous ideas such as succession.

And there's another good reason against right there. Unless California could split on its own without federal approval (unlikely but I'm not good at civics) then many of the other states would object because the dual Californias would reduce the power of the other states by about 2 percent, maybe not much but people don't give up power voluntarily, particularly politicians.

Let's have some good reasons why Californians would like to split the state (if any). I have for a long time wished we Southern Californians could dump Sacramento and San Francisco, have our own state government here in Southern California and get rid of the interference from northerners, BUT we need their water and the only reason we're getting it is because they can't stop us (they wish they could). If we were a different state then IMO we would have to pay much more to bribe the Northern Californians to share their water. They'd rather give the water to the Sacramento smelts or perch or pupfish or whatever stupid endangered fish prevents us from taking more of their water.

And anyway, the state abbreviations NC and SC are already taken.

The bay area is the most liberal part of the state and its the endless expansion of government "for a good cause" that's killing it. You won't be happy until everything productive is taxed and regulated out of existence in the names of your pantheon of political correctness, global warming, and equality of results.

Right, it's all the democrats fault, the Bay Area controls all of California and the governor is not a Republican right? Why do people like you on the right always come off as angry and miserable? Argh, Liberals, Argh, the Bay Area, Argh, Diversity sham, Argh, Race Card, Argh, global warming myth Argh, I'm escaping the libs Argh, Escape California. Yet you're still here, no?

If you take into consideration the likes of Boxer, Pelosi, Brown, Newson, Harris, Dellums, etc. and you still have to ask then you'll likely never understand and you'll likely always vote the party rather than really considering the issues; either that or you're simply delusional!

Actually I'm a moderate and unlike you and your friend I don't obsess over parties. It's obvious you are ONLY for right wing politics, Newsom has nothing to do with issues outside of SF, Dellums has nothing to do with issues outside of Oakland. Boxer and Pelosi are right wing scape goats and cliche right wing tackling dummies to get a rise out of their base. Jerry Brown is bleh but did good things while In Oakland. Typical though that anybody that does not agree with your side is "delusional". How arrogant and condescending.

You're half right.

Southern California needs Northern California's water and money.

The north supports the south. Northern and Southern California were economically equal until the early '90s but the south, I'm very sorry to say, has become a basket case.

However, the difficulties regarding water suggest this would be hard to do, not to mention that drawing a line between Northern and Southern California would be very difficult. As for political divisions, Western and Eastern California makes more sense.
