FRESNO, Calif. -- An 8-year-old girl who was abducted by a stranger while playing outside a Fresno home escaped from her captor Tuesday morning after a driver recognized the suspect's vehicle and cut it off, police said.

The child was found in Fresno about 11 hours after she disappeared around 8:30 p.m. Monday, triggering a statewide Amber Alert. Police arrested Gregorio Gonzalez, 24, who they said was a member of the Bulldogs street gang.

Oh he will, I hope he is constantly harassed in jail by the other inmates. He probably will considering most inmates hate child molesters

In the CA state prison system, they're often kept in protective isolation so they won't come to harm. County jails, depends on their own policy.

In CA many guards are gang members and accept payment from inmates. They will turn their backs on certain inmates and allow them to get attacked. I.E. Putting rival gang members in the same cell on "accident". This guy is not safe.

He said he was scared about a gun being pulled, until he saw the little girl's head pop up from the passenger seat of the vehicle. "I made eye contact with her. And that's when I wasn't scared anymore," Perez said. "I won't kid you, until then I'd thought 'Does this guy have a gun?' But once I met her eyes, I just thought 'I've got to get that little girl out of there." What a hero.
