I have family in Sacramento, so I want to be within driving distance, so 1-3 hours away would be preferable.
I've been looking up in the Shingle Springs/Placerville/Pollock Pines area and the Grass Valley/Nevada City area. They're only about 45 min out of Sac each, though -and I would LOVE to live where it snows.I also plan to look in the Amador County/Plymouth/Mokelumne Hill area, the Avery/Arnold/Douglas Flat/Sonora/Jamestown area, as well as the Yosemite area. A smaller town would be great (less than 85,000ish, and 30,000-60,000 would be ideal). The problem is, I need a place somewhat near a hospital so that I can work (I'm a nurse). I would also love to find a place with a Montessori elementary school (I have 4 children who currently attend a Montessori school). Can anyone help? I need to figure this out within the next 4 months or so. Thank you so much! ![]() |

I'm in Citrus Heights now, Folsom is so close to me, but I want to be totally out of the "big city" and it's surrounding suburbs that are all squished together. Do you have any experience with any of the towns further up 50 from Folsom?

I actually live in Rancho Murieta and love it. It is the same distance from Sacramento, but a whole different world. I have friends in El Dorado Hills and it is nice.

I live in Valley Springs, CA. about 45 minutes from Big Trees National Park. It snows there. We are about 1 hour 20 minutes from Sac. There is a small hospital in San Andreas about 10 minutes from here and Several larger hospitals in the Stockton area which is 35 minutes down the hills to the valley. Lots of folks commute to Stockton from here. Including my husband.
You wouldn't want to live in Stockton. Valley Springs is in the rolling foothills, covered in oak trees. Population of about 7,000. Nice schools. Most homes are on 1/2 acre or more. Except in town itself which is only a few blocks in either direction. Valley Springs is a nice town. You can buy a home for about $300,000. on a 1/2 acre. A nice home. Anyway if you want anymore info. Let me know and I can post some pics. Izzy |
