Default Colfax/Meadow Vista/Gold Run/Emigrant Gap (+ that whole area up I-80) questions

Colfax/Meadow Vista/Gold Run/Emigrant Gap and all of the surrounding towns....

....like Applegate, Weimar, Shady Glen, Cape Horn, Magra, Gold Run, Chicago Park, Bear River Pines, Dutch Flat, Blue Canyon, Alta, etc (there are tons of small towns up there, I see)....

What is the best of these places to live, from your experience with the area?

* If you live in any of these areas, what are your personal pros and cons of each?

* From your experience, what is the drive like from any of these places to Auburn or Grass Valley (for the hospitals because I am a nurse), especially in the winter?

* What schools do you recommend? Do you know of any Montessori (or charter) elementary schools in the area? Do you know of any charter high schools in this area? What do you know of other high schools in the area? (They're not all necessarily listed on the city pages; for example, my kids' school is not on there.)

THANK YOU SO MUCH!
