I've been lamenting the loss of civility in politics and society since Richard Nixon!

Barbara Boxer cares about you? You people are kidding me, right? Boxer would stab you in the back and spit in your eye, to keep her job. She cares about one thing:HER!!! You and me are expendable. Is the other candidate any better? Nope. But, let's be honest here. Boxer could care less about you and me.

So what you're saying is that you are happy with the same thing.

Go ahead and vote for her. If California keeps heading down the same catastrophic path, guess you will just need to "Cowboy Up" and eat the consequences with a big satisfied smile on your face.

The California stuff is interesting to follow, because it borders Oregon, and shares some of the same problems.

Up this way, we face whether or not to put Gov. Kitzhaber back in office again. Which would be a basic repeat of the same management style.

Seems that Oregon and California share two things in common. One is sending the same basic people back to serve in office. And simultaneous collapse of the economy and budgets.

There must be a lesson in there somewhere.

Maybe the lesson is that the problems affect many states and maybe even the federal government, and maybe these are signs of an increasingly serious problem that affects us all no matter what state we live in.

I think that the lesson is that solid companies with good business management in the free market would be able to avoid a chronic degree of the same problem.

That's because they earn money, balance budgets and select qualified managers.

The lesson would be that states like California choose bad management for their state. And likewise, many turn a blind eye, living their lives without much self-sacrifice to get involved.

In other words, most voters just hand the keys over to the politicians, and just focus on their own lives. In a system like that, the politicians eventually take control, make excuses for spending and use the voters like they are an ATM machine.
