The 2/3rds on budget (aka keeping, well, by Californian standards, spending projects in check), and ESPECIALLY the 2/3rds vote on raising taxes are the only 2 things that have kept CA afloat* so far.

*I know "afloat" is really not a good term when you are broke and printing bonds for sale and begging the already broke Uncle Sugar for money

Yes on 25.
It's gridlock when its something you don't like. Got it. What's good for the federal government is good for the California legislature.

I love how people scream for our representatives to work together, except for whenever it's inconvenient.

Vote YES on Prop 25:

I've posted on the 2/3 supermajority rule several times but here goes one more. This rule means each minority vote is worth DOUBLE a regular vote. So, to protect minority rights, each minority should get a double vote in political elections? This is affirmative action of the most egregious variety.

Anyway, the minority party is not a disenfranchised group. They are participants in a fair playing field (apart from gerrymandered districts). If the 2/3rds rule is so important to protect minority party rights, why isn't it used in every red state so that a minority liberal bloc can hold the budgeting process hostage until it gets some crazy tax & spend policies in place? If you don't like the way your representative is voting to raise taxes or increasing services, then vote them out.

Vote YES on Prop 24:

The 2/3rds rule leads to special interest tax loophole deals and Prop 24 is an attempt to close the ones from 2008 & 2009. This loophole is not available to the vast majority of businesses and no individual gets to shift income and losses around to lower their tax bill.

We've tried it your way-it doesnt work.

Nonsense. 47 states only require a simple majority to pass their budget-California should follow suit.

I wish people would set aside their differences and just get it done. It seems that some people on both sides dedicate all their time to dividing-I don't like that.

Most Republicans and Democrats are willing to compromise-but the extremists on either side are irritating.
