I think it is utterly stupid how people post the best pics of California and the worst pics of Texas. There are some pics of the central valley that don't look too much different than those desolate shots of Texas.

Oh yea, go GIANTS, Rangers fans don't deserve it, you know they are really just football fans trying to follow baseball because the Cowboys are irrelevent right now.

You forgot to mention the lovely mosquitos that will carry you from the beach to your car And good luck breathing with that humidity. I think both states have good points, but your reachin on that one.

I've been to several beaches in Texas, I never got bit by mosquitoes. So where is that coming from? And I don't live in Houston, so I have never experienced much humidity here either. And no, I don't believe I'm reaching. We have awesome beaches. There's just obnoxious Californians that refuse to give it up to Texas that we have amenities that have them beat.

Whenever I'm in East Texas, I always slice off five pounds or so of that thick air and ship it back home for resale to the homesick Texans.

But Texas doesn't have legal pot.

I have talked to people who have moved to Austin and with MBAs from prestigious East Coast schools like Harvard (Harvard!) or Dartmouth were not given the time of day by potential employers because they didn't go to a mediocre McUniversity in this state. I write that incredulously as someone who graduated from this state's most renown McUniversity.
Don't think that things aren't exactly the same in California. Well, maybe Harvard might get some respect, but nobody knows what Dartmouth is. I've talked to more than a few people who think it's a two year or vocational!! Even the proctor at the Kaplan GMAT study center didn't know what Dartmouth was. In California it's all about UCLA, Berkeley, and Stanford, then the rest of the UCs, and even CA's mediocre McUniversitys (yes, there's plenty here too) are looked upon more favorably than places like Brown, Swarthmore, or Williams, in my experience.

I wish it were as simple as that. That doesn't change the mentality here.
