I think as far as ancestry goes, a lot of white Californians are of French, German, Polish and other, non British decent. I'm only speculating here as I am too lazy to look it up right now.

White Californian means you are an American, not British OR Irish (not the same thing, btw)

I'm Californian of German/Russian descent. My dance partner, who is not a native Californian, but lives in California, is British. The partner I had before his was from Wales, and in between, I had a partner who was from Germany.

With all the recent arrivals I'm sure it's pretty mixed. My Northern California ancestors were mostly German and Irish and the Southern Californians were more of English descent. I don't know if that's representative though.
