Lexi, I would pick Santa Cruz ... its much cooler and you have easy access to great places like Monterey and San Francisco. If you want lots of natural outdoor activities, culture, mountians, oceans and diversity - Santa Cruz is the place.

Palm Springs is nice too, but the summers are HOT HOT. There is not as much to do recreationally other than, hike, tennis, golf and shop. However, if you want a more laid back quite life, then Palm Springs is a good choice.

It's a choice between crazy apples and gay oranges.

Default Allow me to rephrase the question...

What do you prefer?

1. Heat, heat, golf-carts, dust, dry, heat and more heat.
2. Nice ocean breezes, redwood forests and stunning coastal views.

Choice is obvious.

I'm planning a move there but have been doubting myself ... I'm already
in the Palm Springs area and was wondering if I'm dumb for moving!
Glad to know the majority also prefers Santa Cruz... thanks!

No ... it's serious. Just wanted some confirmation that I'm making the
right move... from the hot hot heat to the beach!

Santa Cruz is easily one of the better cities in all of California. Extremely open minded towards anything and everyone one (see: Umbrella Man, Cat Man) great food (Healthy) and lots of outdoor activities. You might hear stories about Santa Cruz being unsafe but thats utter bulll*****TTT, if anything happens its usually happens near the beach flats (poverty stricken area) or teens from Wastonvile confronting rival gangs in santa cruz.

Oh yeah and you wont have to deal with neo cons

Santa Cruz is beautiful... Palm Springs is in the low desert, where summer temps climb into the teens! No contest for me; Santa Cruz wins by a landslide!
