Lets look at it like this. If you drive up in a $200,000 Ferrari, tell me that you live in a Million dollar home on the hill, wear $300 pants, have a $2,000 watch on your wrist, I can determine one thing and one thing only. The thing that I will know is how much you say that you spent not how much you have. The car could be a rental, or leased, the home could be a rental and the stuff could be on credit. You would look like you were living large but could be putting on a show. A good friend of mine bought a home in 2007 for $1,200,000. Him and his wife sold their first home for $680,000 and used the equity to finance the purchase. They had over $500,000 in equity on the first home. So far so good. Both drove nice cars. She has a Mercedes, their daughter has a Mercedes. He drives a Nissan Titan Pickup. By all appearences they looked like they were living the dream. Turns out that to pay for that home it cost them. They went from having to make monthly payments on a $140,000 debt to making monthly payments on a $700,000 debt. For 3 years they pulled it off. Earlier this year they did a short sale and walked away from it all. Another victim of the housing crash.

The deal about being the Millionaire next door is to live within your means. What that equates to is you pay cash for a car instead of making payments. Sure plenty of Millionaires drive nicer cars than a Camry. Still they pay cash for them. Cars like homes don't make you money they take money from you. It cost you to own a home. It cost you to own a car. The biggest reason that more millionaires drive Fords than any other car is the value in what they are getting. The average millionaire wants the money working for them and not sitting in the garage doing nothing.

You want to enjoy your money? Fine. Become a millionaire and you will do just that. I have plenty of friends that take a couple vacations a year. They have their homes paid off, have funded their retirement accounts, some have rental property. and in one case they drive a Honda Accord.

Actually Warren Buffet drives one...

A lot of his $$ goes towards philanthropic causes. Nothing says wealthy, admirable, and secure like being able to give it away and do some real good with it.

A fancy car is like a sardine can, once you open it up, it is a little fishy inside.

If you really want a "hot chick" save the cost of the rental and hire an escort.

Women with brains and class look to see the purpose behind the vehicle, if it is an obvious "chick magnet" you lost out with them.

A properly raised young woman will be impressed with a Jeep Wrangler with mud one it, or a 4x4 pickup, not one of those city slicker jacked up things, but one with a trailer hitch that pulls a horse trailer. You can spot a properly raised young woman, she is the one wearing wranglers.

I'm guessing you have a thing about 'wranglers'.

Why does there have to be an either or, you can still buy yourself nice things, give plenty to charity and be seen as a good humanitarian. I'm not into Lamborghini's and all that but if I'm a billionaire or multi millionaire I'll be driving a Range Rover Sport or Lexus GS430. Why not spoil yourself, you earned the money. Is he a Jehovah's Witness or something?

Amen Clongirl!

But on a more base and shallow not: unless we're talking Japanese or Italian motorcycles, (NO HARLEYS)

I don't see the point of a 'chick magnet' CAR.

Give me a man in head to toe leathers on a 'crotch rocket' and I'm good.

What kind of "chicks" go for guys becasue of a car? I've heard about "chick magnet" ish before but never knew anyone IRL who was like that. Are they intellectually challenged in some way? Should we feel sorry for them? I really want to know!!

There are millions of attention ***** women out there that do. My cousin plays for the Buffalo Bills and drives a nice car. I've heard some crazy stories about the groupies and players wives. Plenty of women flock to money and shiney objects.

Yup, that's called class envy. Fortunately, people who can afford to drive nice cars, do so and don't give a s**t about prejudiced proles.
The nouveau riche need to drive fancy cars, it is a self esteem issue, old money doesn't care, old money knows who they are.

I guess so, Jeeps and cowgirls, and a truck to pull the horse trailer, bout does it.

It would be a stretch to call folks like that women, they are more girls, I thinks. I sold a beat up 56 ford pickup to the quarterback for the Buffalo Bills a few years ago, he did not think a blingmobile was necessary, judging from his girlfriend.
