Default Glendora

I lived in Glendora California for about a year. We were able to rent a very warm and polished two bedroom town house for under 1500 a month. The people in this city remind me of folks from northern Minnesota very warm and friendly. In the mornings I enjoyed waking and going for a walk to smell all the lushes flowers. People in other units would come out and talk for a while then next time they would invite us in for coffee and such. One evening after a dinner out, we stopped by a little coffee shop on the main street. The place was pretty packed for 10pm. We were pulling out a credit card to pay for our coffee and the server/owner said we can't take credit cards, and we hadn't brought any cash with us. The owner said don't worry about it just pay us when you come back next time. Then the same with my hair dresser. I asked what conditioner he had used in my hair? He said come on in get the rest of the (full) bottle then if you like it order more. There are many more examples of the city this is just a couple. In Glendora it was about 80 degrees (except for 2wks of rain) all year and we were about 40-50 minutes from Venice beach. I'm not for sure if this is what you are looking for but I wanted to share because I enjoyed this city "bunches."

I think you would be interested in the area Walnut, California. Nicely done city nestled about 20 minutes away from orange county and anaheim
( disneyland, angels stadium, etc) but the city is doing a really good job balancing development but also making sure they have green hills, beautiful trees and horse trails running through out. Also, look into the nearby areas of Upland, Claremont, and La Verne

Isn't that city next to the Salton Sea, out there in the desert somewhere? Too bad the photo didn't show, because I'm curious to see what that area looks like.

I took a look at a Wikipedia article about Bombay Beach. There was one picture there of the remains of a trailer half-submerged in mud. I liked the statement under General Info which said this place has to be the most surreal place on the planet, and it's next to the San Andreas Fault. Looks like a real dive. But look at this way--because of the location, the property values are bound to be affordable compared with the more populated areas in the state.

I live in New England and I'm looking to leave within the next few years. I lived in Florida from 1996-1999. It used to be cheap, but no more. My sister is in the Clearwater area. Her mortgage increased $800.(per month) in the past year because of taxes & insurance. After the hurricanes, insurance is impossible! Homeowners insurance on the same type of house in Connecticut would be cheaper than in Florida now Anyway there is much more I could say about FLA, but mostly don't think it's as inexpensive as it used to be. Although it's cheaper than CA(isn't most everything?) I like to visit FLA, but wouldn't live there again.
Good luck where ever you land
