This is just another California vs other states thread.
Not in the least, it was a minor demonstration of the beauty of this state.

But beyond that I think your advice is fantasy-land advice, in the real wold one has to be practical, the ideal doesn't always exist and there are almost always conflicting interests.
Slightly insulting. I imagine I have been around the block a few more times than you, in the end all that matters is your personal geography. If you want to be somewhere, but live somewhere else for this reason or that reason, you are shortchanging your own life.

It is a sort of, selling one's soul to the devil
or
selling one's birthright for a mess of pottage.

This is the tunnel vision again. Being unhappy with some things that happen in California is not equivalent to despising the state, I have never suggested that I despite California. I'm not sure why you think I'm a Republican either, I mean, if my problems with California were its lack of Republicans why in the world would I prefer NYC or Boston?

You are again not reading what is being stated, I very clearly stated that California is very naturally beautiful, California beats pretty much every other state in terms of natural beauty.

I'd seriously suggest some glasses to widen your vision a bit.

Of course! That is why you started the OP with this:

"I have waged a little campaign against those who incessantly attack this state"

Only if you're one-dimensional, if there are many variables that are important to you then you're going to have to find a point where things reasonably intersect, that is going to mean you're going to have to make, you know, compromises.

I find your suggestion fundamentally odd, you suggest I'm shortchanging myself by not moving to NYC, yet destroying a business I enjoy and have worked years at is perfectly okay? Where is the logic in this?

I didn't suggest you were a Republican! Where did that come from? Maybe if you stay on the topic which is about Lockwood Valley instead of tangential nonsense we could go back to the original intent of this thread!

Funny, I've been very realistically complimentary of the state for quite awhile when warranted, which is usually, to include in this thread.

Have you been asleep?

Just out of curiosity, where would you move?

user_id is also struggling with concept of subordinate clause. Back to Lockwood, just north of the Valley are two peaks we always called Mt Able and Mt Pinos, their official names are something different, as kids, that is where we went to play in the snow. There is a town called Pine Mountain Club. The road that runs from I5 to 166 is a great twisty road if you have a motorcycle or good handling car. The road rises into pines.

Geologically this area is part of the transverse range, unusual for California to have and east west running range, but there you go.

I cannot imagine living where the touch of the soil beneath your feet does not reassure ones soul, and lifting your eyes to the hills does not bring peace. You might have a slim wallet, but you have a satisfaction cities cannot create or provide.

Ignorance of the subject does not prevent some from commenting. I wonder if the poor guy knows what the national meal of France is?.... Here, let me help,, Steak and fries.

Curmudgeon, do your research, know your subject, in this case, figure out who Karina is. Oh research? Fact Check? not your bag, eh?
