In fact, since 1990, according to the U.S. Census, 3,642,490 people, net, have left California.

Good news. I wish it was no less than quintuple that.

Should we be shocked that "Mr. I live in France but Love Texas" has posted yet another article about the downfall of California?

The state does face some serious challenges but consider the source: NewGeography is Joel Kotkin's website and he loves to bash his (adopted) home state. However, I do cringe (and get concerned) when the Golden State gets compared to well, the basket case known as FRANCE!

The state's population growth has NOT stopped, albeit the current growth is at its slowest pace in years (and mostly due to natural increase). This is probably a good thing until we can fix our economy.

Also...the article talks about Texas and Arkansas. Calif. still has a GDP per capita WELL ABOVE those two states.

That should have reduced the population by 10%, but, it didn't, darn.

People have different reasons of why they are leaving California, but trust me people leaving California in a way is a good thing, because it helps balance everything out so we don't become way too overpopulated.

Even though people are leaving this state you won't notice a shortage of people while driving around our Towns and Cities thats for sure.

There has been for many years, a diffusion of Californians to other western states, often the retired, and the dreamers, whose parents or grandparents dreamed of California, came here, did well, and their children and grandchildren dream on.

If we took every family that has moved here in the last 70 years and moved them out, there would be few left in the state.

Americans are footloose.

Just using the predominant language of each place. I could have gone either way with Texas.
