Hi
I am 20 years old and in my final year at college studying childcare wanting to become a teaching assistant for young children. I live in London Uk and would love to get a job in america and then possibly live out there for good. Would it be possible for anyone to give me any information about moving to places in California and getting a job working with children?
Thanks

Here is the CA teaching jobsite: California's premiere online job search site | EDJOIN.org
Here is craigslist.org: craigslist: SF bay area classifieds for jobs, apartments, personals, for sale, services, community, and events

Check salaries vs. apartment rental costs and reality comes crashing in.
Get a degree where your salary would be higher, or marry rich.

If you will work in Special Ed, mentally handicapped, medically fragile, autistic, you will improve your chances of being hired, once you have jumped through all the other bureaucratic hoops.

Im not totally sure that i can work with autistic or handicapped children with my qualification but then i spose i could as i may work with them children if i was a teaching assistant. Would it really be that hard to get into childcare without a degree if i move over to america?
So would i need a green card as well as a visa?
Is there any other information about california or teaching that you could give me? I want to work with children but as im young i dont think i want to be a teacher just yet. I know about the grades and that but dont totally know the information on schools. Whas the american curriculum?

I don't know the rules of working here from GB, I do know there are no qualifications required for Instructional Assistant, and the pay reflects that, poor.

Yes,you need a permit to work, not just a visa. The visa only allows you to enter. Try checking the US Department of State website for info on both. Good luck.

I for one, can give you no positive information on those places.

My Grandfather emigrated from London to CA, in 1905, never looked back, did the American Dream, great possibilities here.

Consider what you want to be doing at 30, at 40, etc.
